Mexican Contemporary House
A publication based on the Mexican Contemporary House, a residential Melbourne building by Evolva Architects and Andres Cassilas. As a shortlisted finalist for the 2015 Victorian Architecture Awards, the building is a testament to 20th century modernist principles.
Architecturally designed with a truth and honesty to raw materials, the publication seeks to extend that idea through emphasizing the beauty of unprinted paper. The publication contains a series blind embossed posters which are based on theories of architectural harmony propagated through Andres Cassilas' architecture. Light and shadow was used as a form of ornamentation on the building, and is replicated through the embossed pattern on each page. The front book contains an interview conducted with the architects as well as a series of articles and images sourced through the research process.
