Civil Disobedience

Civil Disobedience is a typographic reinterpretation of Henry David Thoreau’s seminal Essay of the same name, created as an entry into the International Society of Typographic Designers Awards 2015. Within the text, Thoreau aims to engage the public with current political discourse, emphasizing the priority of conscience over the dictate of law. The publication engages on two levels, acting as both a printed broadsheet, and transforming into a larger public broadside, enabling the work to operate in both private and public spaces.
